Faith and spirituality have always been one strand of the Country music heritage. Now two new developments are extending the connection further.
First, Tracy Lawrence has announced his next project will be a gospel album, which he says he has long intended to do. The collection will contain all new songs and, as yet, doesn't have a title.
VoC listeners will know that Richie McDonald has also just released an inspirational album, top Christian group Point of Grace recently appeared in the Country charts, and of course Alan Jackson had huge success with his "Precious Moments" gospel collection.
VoC is now putting together a weekly show that will deliver the best of inspirational Country in a Sunday morning programme called "Other Voices". The show will feature a mix of music from top Country and Contemporary Christian artists, plus occasional interviews tying in with the music.
