 Brooks And Dunn

Brooks & Dunn, "Cowgirls Don't Cry" – The boys' new single dispenses with the Rolling Stones guitar licks they're so fond of and heads into more traditional Country territory. It's a story song with an ending that is no less effective for being somewhat predictable. Another flawless Ronnie Dunn vocal clinches this track the Hitbound badge for the week.

Kristy Lee Cook, "15 Minutes of Shame " – Kristy Lee is another American Idol graduate, but with a particularly interesting background. She grew up in a log cabin in Oregon, where her family raised horses. Showing an aptitude for music, she started singing at an early age and was at one point signed to Britney Spears' production company. She's now with Arista Records in Nashville and looks to have a hit first time out with this sassy debut single.

Big & Rich, "You've Got to Fight for Your Right to Party" – The Beastie Boys' party anthem is given the Big & Rich treatment and comes out sounding all the better for it. If parts of this track remind you of something else, it's because the instrumental riff from "Love Train" (on the first B&R album) has been grafted onto the Beasties' song. This is taken from the charity album, "The Imus Ranch Record".

We thought this week we would give you a classic Big and Rich to sink your teeth into.

Pat Roper, "Somethin' About That" – The talented newcomers keep coming thick and fast this year and we've found another one in Pat Roper. Hailing from rural Mississippi, Pat's introductory single is a rollicking, infectious tribute to small town life, written by the same man who co-wrote Brooks & Dunn's "Put a Girl in It" and Jeff Bates' "Long Slow Kisses".
