Jack Ingram, “That’s a Man” – Jack has been known to be edgy, both lyrically and musically, but on this new single he is smack in the mainstream with a straightforward and heartfelt lyric. One of the beautiful things about Country music is the honesty and lack of cynicism in the lyrics and this is a sterling example: it’s plainspoken and unashamedly direct in its message. Our Hitbound Sound for the week and another winner for Jack.
Here is some classic Jack 'Love You'
James Otto, “These Are the Good Old Days” – A very tasty slice of Memphis funk delivered in ultra-cool fashion by our favourite Country blues man. If you liked “Just Got Started Loving You”, you’ll go for this one in a big way as well.
Jessica Simpson, “Remember That” – Jennifer’s second Country single is a nifty little ballad that challenges the listener to figure out who the lyric is directed at. It soon becomes clear that “you” in the lyrics is a girlfriend of the singer and the friend is in an abusive relationship. Jessica is trying to convince her friend not to go back to the abuser by reminding her of the bad things that have happened. Interesting side note: one of the songwriters is Rachel Proctor, who wrote and recorded the hit song, “Me & Emily”, also about domestic violence.
Jimmy Wayne, “I Will” – Jimmy’s excellent new album is full of great songs and sterling performances. The new single is a declaration of devotion with a soaring power ballad backing.
