Shania Twain has issued a shock announcement reporting the end of her marriage to producer Mutt Lange. The couple wed in 1993, just six months after meeting. They have one son, Aja D’Angelo.
Lange played a major role in Shania’s success, co-writing her biggest hits and adding the production and arrangement sparkle that he had used previously on rock records by Def Leppard, Bryan Adams and others.
Statements from Shania in the past had hinted at her unique arrangement with Mutt. In 2002 she told People magazine that the marriage was based on “friendship and compatibility”, but that the two of them “were very different”.
