Only in Nashville!

CMA Music Festival week is both exhilirating and exhausting, in equal measure. It's always great to see the thousands of Country fans in town, including VoC listeners. And there are loads of extra opportunities to meet up with the artists we play on VoC and arrange for them to come by for a chat with us in the weeks ahead.

We've got a great line-up of Country stars coming to VoC as a result of the CMA Festival events, including Steve Holy, Lee Brice, new duo the Parks, One Flew South, Wade Hayes, Andy Griggs, Deborah Allen and loads more.

On the Monday after the festival, things started to get back into a routine at VoC and I dutifully showed up at Boost FitClub on Highway 70 for the morning spin class. Here's where I had one of those "only in Nashville" moments...

First, let me say one of the many benefits of living in Music City is that you get to hear great Country music in public places like restaurants, shopping malls, etc. The spin class at Boost is another place where they mix in current Country with pop and other genres.

Well, in the middle of this particular class, a song came up that we're currently playing on VoC, "I Just Call You Mine". However, the single is by Martina McBride and the version I heard at Boost was by a male vocalist.

Also, while the song was playing, the instructor suddenly looked through the glass doorway to the weight area and gave someone a "high sign".

After class, all was revealed. Apparently, the man who WROTE the Martina song is a member of the club and he walked by while the class was in session, heard his song playing, and gave a smile and wave to the instructor. The vocalist, it turns out, was his brother.

As I say, only in Nashville...
