Newcomer Crystal Shawanda and veteran hit-makers Emerson Drive are among the nominees just announced for this year's Canadian CMA Awards.
Crystal is nominated for Female Artist of the Year, competing against Terri Clark, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Lisa Brokop and newcomer Jessie Farrell. Crystal's current VoC hit, "You Can Let Go", earns a nod for Single of the Year, as well.
Meanwhile, Emerson Drive are among the contenders for Group or Duo of the Year. The nominees for the Top Selling Album Award are Carrie Underwood, "Carnival Ride"; Taylor Swift's self-titled project; Garth Brooks, "Ultimate Hits"; Reba McEntire's "Duets" album; and "Raising Sand" by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant.
Among the interesting omissions, Terri Clark is missing from the list of Fans' Choice nominees, a category she has swept for a number of years. Terri will host the event, however.
Newcomer Jessie Farrell is the most nominated act with seven mentions. The awards will be handed out on September 8th in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
