Darius Rucker, "It Won't Be Like This for Long" - When this track started playing, we thought it was "You Can Let Go" by Crystal Shawanda; it sounds strikingly similar at points. That's not to detract from Darius' new effort: it boasts another superb vocal, delivered with feeling and conviction. It's our Hitbound Sound this week, and we're looking forward to playing it for you on VoC!
Sebastian Bach, "Battle with the Bottle" - His real name is Sebastian Bierk and he was at one time the lead singer of rock group Skid Row. Now he follows in the footsteps of Bon Jovi, Van Zant, Bret Michaels and others and tries his hand at a Country career. Sebastian is off to a good start: he won the CMT Talent Show "Gone Country 2", hosted by John Rich. This first single sounds like early Dylan in places to us (this is a good thing). Let us know what you think!
Joey & Rory, "Cheater Cheater" - More graduates from TV reality shows, but with a decidedly different story. This husband-wife team were fan favourites on the US TV series, "Can You Duet". Rory is a top Nashville songwriter who's written hits for a number of major artists, while Joey owns a restaurant and gets up at the crack of dawn each morning to go in and do the baking. The song is a bluegrass stomp, with an attitude-soaked lyric that reminds us of Loretta Lynn at her feistiest. Well done and definitely different.br>
Lee Ann Womack, "Last Call" - Lee Ann's new album, "Call Me Crazy" is one of a rare species: a Country album getting an official UK release. This first single is co-written by our old pal Shane McAnally (who has "Say Anything" and a bunch of other great songs in the VoC archives). It's a return to the traditional side of things, where Lee Ann's heart is and where she feels most at home. The vocal and backing are delivered with a light, airy touch reminiscent of Alison Krauss.
Also new this week: a new remix of "Somebody Said a Prayer" from Billy Ray Cyrus. This remix makes a great song sound even better
