Keith Urban, "Sweet Thing" – Keith unleashes another monster track from his forthcoming album. This is a guitar-fuelled up tempo affair, with a machine-gun style delivery of the verses alternating with soaring, melodic choruses. A bunch of falsetto "doo doo doos" at the end of the song are the icing on the cake. It had to be our new Hitbound Sound, but so did the next new cut, which shares join Hitbound honours (first time ever!).
Toby Keith, "God Love Her" – Our joint Hitbound follows Toby's recent Number One, "She Never Cried in Front of Me". That's a hard act to follow, but this rockin' little gem gets the job done without breaking a sweat. Toby just keeps getting better and is getting up there with Kenny Chesney as the source of uniformly excellent music. Speaking of whom…
Kenny Chesney/Mac McAnally, "Down the Road" – Kenny teams up with songwriter McAnally for this gentle, wistful follow-up to "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven". Not as instantly memorable as much of Kenny's stuff, but we have the feeling this one's going to sneak up on people and worm its way into their consciousness.br>
Tracy Lawrence, "You Can't Hide Redneck" – There is usually a glut of ballads in the run-up to the festive season, but Tracy wisely releases a foot-tapper, catchy as all get-out and sporting the immensely likeable Tracy Lawrence vocal delivery.
